Our timberlands comprise an area of approximately 254,000 hectares (628,000 acres) of Private Managed Forest Land on Vancouver Island, mainland coast and Haida Gwaii. Our private lands are certified as meeting the standards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and all operations are guided by our Timberlands Management System that is compliant with the ISO 14001 Standard. All of our forest operations including contractors are "SAFE Certified" under the BC Forest Safety Council’s SAFE Companies Program.
Island Timberlands is proud to provide sustainably managed forests. Managing a forest requires the balancing of timber production with the protection of key values such as water, soils, wildlife, ecological diversity, and community needs. This balance is ensured by law, certification standards, and our internal policies.
We reforest our timberlands promptly to re-establish a healthy vibrant forest in a short time. This forest will be carefully managed until its next harvest to provide a superior, environmentally sound product.
